Dragons are a huge part of Pern. Life on Pern wouldn't exist if it weren't for the dragons. Every 200 years or so, the Red Star threatens Pern with threads. Threads are seeds that rain and when they are planted, they grow huge venus fly trap like plants that are about 300 feet tall. They eat everything in they can reach. Don't worry though. The dragons are trained by dragon riders and they both, as a team, fly in the air and burn the threads. The dragon riders have to feed the dragons firestone in order for them to breath fire. Our resort though, is the only spot on Pern that threads don't rain.
