Living on Pern

In Pern the children are raised by foster parents unlike in America where most of us are raised by our real parents. They have everyday chores to do. If they don't do them, they will get in trouble similar to us. The foster mothers are busy people because they raise many children. Unlike us in America, where we usually have 1-4 children, the foster mothers raise up to 20 kids. The boys are raised to be dragon riders. The girls however, are raised to be foster mothers. Once the boys reach the age of 12 they can go to there first Impression. Impression? Impression is when the dragons hatch andthe boys have to make a good impression on the dragons. If the dragon is impressed, they will waddle up to the boy and speak telepathically to him.
